It's time for assorted Downpour AU doodles because there's way too many of these to make thematic posts every time-

Since both Maria and Serena have short hair, Shirabe decided to give herself a haircut to fit in with them; it doesn't go well but at least she didn't chip her ear off in the process

Also hey the fight at the beginning of G looks slightly different here, mostly due to Shirabe's duo relic Shul Shagana-Igalima: instead of roller skating around she uses Igalima's blades as spider legs

While everyone (except Kirika) suffers in Downpour, Kanade and Miku get to live in yuri heaven and provide live commentary regarding Hibiki and Tsubasa's love life

Maria's first thoughts upon meeting anyone generally revolve around how if and how she would kill them; threat assessment is engrained into her body but she's also very bad at social interactions so she often entertains the idea of killing people over the mildest of inconveniences

Hibiki is extremely clingy and needy and Tsubasa is extremely bad at initializing physical contact but also touch starved; they quite literally compliment each other's needs

I was thinking about how much I miss symphogear so I finally opened up the shirabe cooking manga and this girl activates shul shagana to slice her okonomiyaki

Second half of Shirabe Meshi chapter 34 is out now. Last time, Shem-Ha said she had set everything up for Miku and Hibiki before leaving things to Miku who then told Hibiki to step out onto the balcony so...we'll see now what she meant by that

ahem

Out on the balcony, a table is set up with shaved ice

Miku reveals that not only was this Shem-Ha's doing, but she seems to have roped Shirabe into this as well.

In a flashback, Shem-Ha is shown bringing a large chunk of ice to Shirabe

She tells her that it's too big to take into their dorm so Shirabe will have to use Shul Shagana to...make it into much smaller shaved ice

Apparently Shirabe has made shaved ice with her Gear before and is shocked to have been found out but Shem-Ha reminds her that they have been watching everyone from the moon

She tells her it's high quality natural ice with high transparency and also high density that makes it not melt as easily. She also gave the same gift to the shaved ice stand that gave the ice they used to cool her down before

So Shirabe uh...makes Shul Shagana turn into...a little...shaved ice making robot

I have questions

So basically she took inspiration from the mech that she, Kirika, and Maria made when fighting Shem-Ha except...made it standalone and...smaller.

...and capable of making shaved ice, I guess.

She puts mango and condensed milk on one serving and blueberries in blueberry jam with a drizzle of condensed milk on the other to make them the color of Gungnir and Shenshoujing

Since she's served her purpose, Shem-Ha dismisses Shirabe, telling her she can have the remaining ice as a reward. Shirabe then goes crying to Kirika about how everyone's just using her for her kitchen skills lately

Sorry Shirabe, this manga may be named after you, but...

Back in the present, Miku thinks to herself that she should apologize to Shirabe tomorrow

As they eat the shaved ice, Miku admits that it's not that she wanted to do the festival over, she just wanted Hibiki's time to herself. She loves that Hibiki always helps people, but when she's so focused on others, she's also not paying attention to her.

"Augh! I didn't want to say that! That was kinda off-putting, wasn't it?"

"That's not true at all! I'm an idiot so I never noticed I was upsetting you. I'm glad you put it into words. Thanks, Miku."

As they're hugging, Hibiki points out that Miku's yukata looks nice.

"You noticed it?"

"I couldn't take my eyes off it!"

They hug for a bit longer with Miku getting increasingly flustered until she finally mentions the shaved ice is gonna melt as an excuse to break away but Hibiki points out that it won't melt easily so it's okay, everything's fine

Right at that moment, fireworks start going off. Apparently there was a fireworks show that night. They notice they can see them pretty well from their balcony and wonder if the others can see them too.

As they're watching the fireworks, Hibiki says that she loves ordinary days like this, so she'll keep doing her best to help others so they can keep having them

Miku says she'll also do her best for Hibiki, so she can stay by her side

...The next day, Hibiki looks at the news on her phone and sees an article with the headline "Has moon ice been made into shaved ice?" about NASA announcing the disappearance of moon ice from craters and how a giant chunk of ice appeared at the shaved ice stand

Again we're following After XV design sensibilities by mixing Amalgam and XV Gears (heh AXV); the flower pattern, covered arms, skirt and gold highlights are added to her base Gear, plus Shirabe's Imago shield that she gets to throw around like Captain America. Unfortunately that does mean the shield-bot is reserved to active Amalgam, but to compensate it's mecha-sized now!

Shirabe's Superb Song also changes just like Kirika's; she can spin Shul Shagana's blades to increase gravitational pull, setting up an area where its comically large saws can do the most damage. She's bringing people together! ...To a meat grinder, but she's still doing it!

Next up is either Maria, Tsubasa or Chris; all I know is that one of them is getting a butch cut because almost everyone has long(er) in AXV and I need to change that.

I don't even know what kind of weapon shul shagana is since shirabe's powers seem to be based around saws and orbs. looking it up it seems like no one else does either it's just a "red blade" from Sumerian myth

I finished episode 4. This show just keeps giving me MORE REASONS TO LOVE IT. Maria battles using the actual armed gear of her Gungnir, which is the spear/lance. Of course she’s up against Tsubasa which triggers some little bits of feels in the back of my mind, and by the end of the battle, Tsubasa realizes/notices that Maria has to use LiNKER like Kanade did, and ALL ABOARD THE S.S. FEELS EVERYBODY!!

Then of course some other things with fights including MORE KIRIKA & SHIRABE! I absolutely love Kirika as a whole so far, she is just really pure, even in fights against the crew, and her first song for the season in that fight? HOO BOY do I like it! Her Gear (Igalima) is just so cool too, the way the scythe Armed Gear works is heckin awesome too. Shirabe’s Gear (Shul Shagana)... it’s interesting with the whole buzzsaw blades thing, yes, but I can’t get over the type of stuff they pull sometimes. A FULL BUZZSAW WHEEL AROUND HER FOR AN ATTACK EXCUSE ME BUT WHAT?

Oh, and I guess to go into some detail about Maria’s first battle song for the season, I think it’s pretty neat. Gives off “Heroic Warrior” kinds of vibes, so that gets it points from me.

As for some more minor things: Firstly, somehow when the Nephilim is actually calm, it looks kinda cute. I don’t know how they pulled this off, but they did. After that, EVEN MORE adorable Kirika and Shirabe interactions, this time at the Lydian autumn school festival! Speaking of the school festival, of course there are some little cute of bits HibiMiku, but the main focus IMO is the Queen of the Stage Competition. The little trio of Hibiki and Miku’s school friends end up competing and singing what’s basically an in-universe anime opening (but they get cut off midway because nobody in that school respects good cultured in-universe anime). Then Chris is sorta goaded into entering by these three girls that she sorta became friends with (and by Tsubasa a little bit), and sings one of the most heartwarming songs I think I’ve ever heard. It was so perfect.

And Y’know what? Screw it! I’m watching episode 5 today too. I’m on that excitement train baby woohoo!
